IITK PHD Student Commits Suicide
Update: According to the newspapers, this one does not seem to be due to the academic stress.

KANPUR: A PhD scholar from Kerala, pursuing doctoral studies at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here, allegedly committed suicide by consuming cyanide.
The body of Abhilash J J was found at the terace of a hostel in the IIT campus on Monday morning, police said.
Some cyanide and a suicide note, which said he was under depression, were recovered.
Abhilash had recently visited Germany as part of his PhD programme and his viva voce was scheduled for November 9.

A suicide at IIT isn't astonishing..I've had my own ass burnt when I was doing my summers at AIIMS...its this hang-up people have at these institutions....they think they're gods being a part of them...maybe its the kind of struggle they've experienced all the way that makes them impose the same on their counterparts.
